KIVA SHS MEMPHIS CLUB
Southwind High School was the first high school in the state of Tennessee to be officially chartered as a KIVA High School Club in January 2011. We are proud to be part of KIVA U--which connects and mobilizes microfinance clubs at high schools and colleges across the country to further the efforts to expand financial inclusion and broaden access for traditionally underserved communities. http://www.kiva.org/do-more/kivau
To date, we have provided over 132 loans totalling $3,550.00 to 69 different countries including the United States. Our goal is to reach 200 loans totaling $5,000 by the end of 2015.
Our students actively fundraise throughout the school year and also show their appreciation by performing community service every month at a different venue in Memphis. We are committed to spreading the word about KIVA and the use of microfinance as a tool to eradicate poverty.
